DOSIO VIGNETI
A great return at Vinitaly:
the Langhe D.O.C. Freisa

A rarity with an indissoluble link to the Langhe area

Vinitaly, April 2022Dosio Vigneti, in the heart of Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage area, at Vinitaly, announces the return, within its own ‘family’, of a true rarity: the Langhe D.O.C. Freisa.

A rarity almost forgotten, but not by Dosio Vigneti as it is inextricably linked to the territory, traditions and roots of the Langhe. Dosio Vigneti’s Freisa comes from a rigorous selection of the grapes, careful vinification and scrupulous ageing in oak barrels. The 2017 vintage was vinified just like the King of Piedmont wines to see how Freisa, considered an ancestor of Nebbiolo, could express itself over time. The result is a red wine with a strong personality, a great structure and a complex and elegant tannic texture, typical of the variety.

The vineyards are located in the municipality of La Morra at an altitude of about 480m above sea level on limestone-clay soil with a south/south-west exposure. Harvesting is manual during the second half of September.

A fine wine with an intense ruby red colour. The nose offers complex notes reminiscent of red berries, tobacco and pepper and after a few minutes a floral scent reminiscent of roses is released. The taste is decidedly persistent and rich in tannins which, combined with the great structure, make it a soft and persuasive wine.

It is ideal with long cooked meat dishes where it harmonises best; also perfect with mature hard cheeses.

About Dosio Vigneti

Dosio Vigneti cellars – part of a Group, a 100% Italian reality with Piedmontese roots – was founded in 1974 on a pre-existing farm dating back to the mid-18th century. Completely restructured over the years – particularly after the new ownership took over in 2010 – today this reality boasts around 15 hectares of estate vineyards that guarantee excellent wine production, a wine cellar located centrally to the estate and various areas and spaces dedicated to the presentation and tasting of the wines, with the possibility of enjoying a view that can sweep as far as the summit of Monviso. Here, the excellent position on the highest point of the hill at about 500m above sea level – with a completely southern exposure – ensures the right ventilation and temperature for the vineyards, guaranteeing a production of remarkable quality. The production philosophy is carried forward by pursuing the founding values of quality and tradition, with an eye to innovation and an unavoidable respect for the territory thanks to production and cultivation methods aimed at reducing the impact on the environment as much as possible. www.dosiovigneti.com
